ParentPlus works with programs throughout Shelby County to extend your support system. We partner with over 65 agencies to help pregnant women and families with children prenatal-age 5. By participating in our programs, we can connect you with resources to help your family reach its full potential.

 Our Partners

All programs are free and voluntary. Each program has different qualifications that may not be fully listed. Contact one of our staff members, fill out our online interest form by clicking “find programs” above, or use the program selection tool to find out which programs you likely qualify for.

  • Early Head Start is a home-based program for pregnant women and parents with children up to age three. The program provides specialized staff to support you in your home. Early Head Start also provides center-based services for children 6 weeks to age 3.

    How often will we meet? For pregnant moms, a home visitor will meet with you once a month. Once the baby is born, you’ll receive weekly visits.

  • Healthy Families America is home visitation service available to any pregnant women or parents with a child under 2 weeks of age. The program provides skilled staff with specialized services for support in your home until the child is 5 years of age.

    How often will we meet? For the first 6 to 9 months, you’ll receive a weekly visit. After these first months, you’ll receive two visits per month.

  • Nurse Family Partnership provides a registered nurse who will partner with you as you go through pregnancy and the early years of your child’s life. This program is available to first-time mothers who are less than 28 weeks pregnant at the time of enrollment. Your nurse will provide visits until your child is two years of age.

    How often will we meet? Most choose to meet with their nurse every 2 weeks, but you can meet as often or little as you’d like.

  • One by One Ministries is a Christian Faith-based home visitation program where clients are matched with mentors.  The program serves pregnant women and parents through baby’s first year (with the option of continuing for a second year). Skilled mentors provide relational support to promote mother-child attachment and early brain development. Participants can be enrolled anytime during pregnancy, and until the baby is 3 months old.

    How often will we meet? Your mentor will meet with you at least once a month.

  • Parents as Teachers is a home visiting program that provides skilled parent educators to partner with you to achieve your parenting goals. The program serves pregnant mothers and parents of children up to 5 years of age.

    How often will we meet? Your parent educator will meet with you twice a month.

  • TN Voices Early Childhood Program is available to support parents, caregivers, and educators of children birth to age eight in the home and/or in the classroom. The program provides support for responding to challenging behaviors and promoting social emotional development such as friendship skills, problem solving, or managing big feelings.

    How often will we meet? Services are offered weekly or bi-weekly for 8 to 16 weeks.

Not interested in home-based services? No problem! We also partner with great programs that offer center-based programs. Here are a few of our partners:

  • Pregnant Moms Empowerment Program is a social support group for women who are less than 30 weeks pregnant and have experienced conflict with a partner within the last year. Groups are held at University of Memphis and meet for 2 hours a week for 5 weeks. Women complete 4 individual interviews over the course of the program and 30 days of daily diaries. Women receive up to $400 in gift cards for completing all interviews. Participants are enrolled in the program until their baby is 13 months old.

  • Nurturing Parenting is a group program that offers a 12 to 24 week course designed to help you become the best parent possible. We partner with organizations all over Shelby County who offer this program and we will work with you to connect you to the most convenient site for you.
